Auburn Rifle Club

The Auburn Rifle Club is the oldest incorporated shooting club in Maine, established in 1905. As stated in the original charter, "The purposes of said corporation are for the encouragement of military, sporting rifle, pistol and revolver shooting."

We promote advanced marksmanship in the winter through competition using Postal matches where teams throughout the state compete against each other on a weekly basis. Each week the team you are on competes against a different team somewhere in the state and scores are mailed in. Categories include .22 rifle, .22 pistol, center fire pistol, and both air gun pistol and rifle.

We also have a .22 target rifle team that meets with other teams on Thursday nights to shoot "shoulder to shoulder", in person, on different ranges throughout the winter months.

We also sponsor the annual NRA certified 22 rifle four position [prone, standing, sitting and kneeling] Sectional and State Championships.

Members of the club are also active in the "Adaptive shooting program" for disabled veterans from Togus, youth air gun programs with American Legions, advisors to the Sportsman Alliance of Maine on air gun shooting, officers of the Pine Tree Rifle and Pistol Association to provide funding for Maine junior shooters to attend the National Championships in Indiana each year.

Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife

Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) preserves, protects, and enhances the inland fisheries and wildlife resources of the state. Established in 1880 to protect big game populations, MDIFW has since evolved in scope to include protection and management of fish, non-game wildlife, and habitats, as well as restoration of endangered species like the bald eagle.

In addition to its conservation duties, MDIFW is also responsible for enabling and promoting the safe enjoyment of Maine's outdoors — from whitewater rafting to boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and wildlife observation.

NRA

The National Rifle Association of America is a gun rights advocacy group based in the United States.  Founded in 1871 to advance rifle marksmanship, the modern NRA has become a prominent gun rights lobbying organization while continuing to teach firearm safety and competency.

Gun Owners of Maine

Gun Owners of Maine is an all-volunteer, grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated to defending and promoting the gun rights of Mainers, and we are the only Maine organization focused on this issue alone. We monitor developments affecting gun owners on both the State and Federal levels, tracking bills in the Legislature and the Congress, and act as a watchdog on governmental agencies.

Gun Owners of Maine tracks, analyzes and reports on issues of importance to gun owners, identifying and getting the word out to gun owners on threats to, and opportunities for our gun rights.

Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine

Maine’s largest sportsman’s organization with 8,000 members and a headquarters in Augusta, ME. SAM is considered the leader of Maine’s 300,000 sportsmen. SAM’s staff works at the legislature, state agencies and other forums on critical issues. SAM was organized in 1975 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit membership organization to promote conservation of Maine’s wildlife resources and to be an advocate for hunters, anglers, trappers and gun owners throughout the state. SAM’s members have a real voice and impact on outdoor issues.
